Payment Methods
There are various ways to send money from one person to another. When doing a payment request, the merchant can specify which services he likes to use, or in some cases leave this choice to the customer. So a payment using the bank transfer service can also specify the Credit Management Service to have the payment engine send reminders to the customer if the payment is not completed.
As we know, the most popular payment system is Paypal. Paypal is an online payment method which is available worldwide. Paypal offers a line of features for both merchant and buyer to make sure that any payment is processed secure and with a number of optional buy-seller protection option. Paypal allows you to make payments using a variety of methods including Paypal balance, Paypal branded debit and credit cards, etc. You can choose any of the payment methods in your Paypal account as your preferred payment method. You can set separate preferred payment methods for online transactions and in-store transactions.
When the payment request is done, the consumer is redirected to the Paypal website and where he will be asked to log in to his account. After he has logged in, he will be asked to agree to the payment or, when starting a recurrent payment, will be asked to accept the billing agreement. When he accepts, he will be redirected back to the return URL provided by the merchant. The status of the payment can be either pending or successful, which depends on a number of reasons.
Paypal supports recurrent billing. It means that it is possible to ask a consumer to accept a billing agreement the first time her performs a payment through the Paypal for a certain service or subscription a merchant offers. The first payment will be done when the consumer accepts the agreement. Any following payment for the same subscription can be done through the recurrent billing. When using recurrent billing it is possible to pass an optional billing agreement description. This description will be used as the description the consumer sees in his Paypal account and his listing of billing agreements. In that list he can see all agreements that he has accepted and can stop the agreement. Pay is the default action for Paypal. This action doesn’t require input. Optional input includes the Paypal account email address of the consumer, a Paypal page style and a Billing Agreement Description.
The next method which we would like to introduce is Sofort. The merchant starts by sending the request for a Sofortbanking payment to a BPE transaction gateway. The gateway processes the request and sends a response to the merchant. If the request sent to gateway without a customer redirect, that response will contain a redirect URL to which the customer must be redirected. When the original request the customer was redirected along to the Buckaroo public gateway, the customer is automatically redirected to the payment page at Sofortbanking by the transaction gateway. The Sofort uses Sofortueberweisung and SofortDigital servicecodes. The Sofort service supports Pay and Refund actions. The default action for Sofortbanking is Pay. This action doesn’t have input except the basic transaction details. After receiving this input, the consumer will be redirected to Sofortbanking site in order to verify and confirm the payment. After completion of Sofortbanking site, the customer is redirected back to the merchant site.
