Quantum Computing

What is a quantum computing?  A quantum computing is a model of how to build a computer. The word “quantum” gained currency in the late 20th century as a descriptor signifying something so significant it defied the use of common adjectives.

Quantum computing is a technology based on the principles of quantum theory, which explains the nature of energy and matter on the atomic and subatomic level. It relies on the existence of mind-bending quantum-mechanical phenomena.

Now let’s talk about humanizing quantum computing.  Quantum computing’s purpose is to extend the abilities of classical computing. Quantum computers will perform several tasks much more efficiently than classical computers, providing us with a new tool for specific applications. Quantum computers will not replace their classical counterparts. Quantum computers would be useful in advancing solutions to challenges in diverse fields such as energy, finance, healthcare and others.

Quantum computers operate on completely different principles to existing computers which makes them really well suited to solving particular mathematical problems. Researchers are excited about the prospect of using quantum computers to model complicated chemical relations, a task that conventional supercomputers are not very good. Researchers are hoping that if they can use quantum mechanics to work out what’s going on inside that reaction, they could discover new ways to make the process much efficient.

In general, it is possible that quantum computing may be a viable alternative in the future to current transistor-based solutions, though non-trivial encumbrances in fabrication and mass-manufacturing must be addressed for this to become viable technology for mass industry adoption.
